Crispy golden lumpia filled with savory ground pork, grated carrots, onion, and garlic, with a little cheese tucked inside each roll. This homemade Filipino favorite makes a delicious snack, appetizer, or addition to a family meal.
Ingredients
1 pound ground pork
1 pack lumpia wrappers
½ onion, chopped
1–2 tablespoons minced garlic
2–3 carrots, peeled and grated
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Black pepper, to taste
Salt, if needed
A little cheese for each roll
Cooking oil, for sautéing and frying
Water, for sealing the wrappers
Instructions
Heat a little oil in a skillet. Add the ground pork and sauté, breaking it into small pieces.
Add the onion, garlic, grated carrots, soy sauce, and black pepper. Continue cooking until the pork is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender. Let excess liquid cook off so the filling is not watery.
Taste the cooked filling and add salt only if needed. Transfer to a dish and let cool before wrapping.
Separate the lumpia wrappers. Place a small amount of filling near one edge of each wrapper and add a little cheese.
Fold the sides inward and roll snugly. Moisten the final edge with a little water and press to seal.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Fry the lumpia in small batches, turning as needed, until golden and crisp on all sides.
Drain on a rack or paper towels. Serve warm.
Wrapper sizes and pack quantities vary, so the number of lumpia will depend on how much filling you put in each roll.
